Cobb Energy employee donations assist those in need Cobb EMC recently teamed up with Cut Out Hunger, a local organization that uses a Website to link visitors with unadvertised grocery bargains, sales, coupons and other Websites such as ValuPage and Cool Savings. Stephanie Nelson, Cut Out Hunger founder, hopes shoppers will use the vouchers, sales or the money they save to donate food to charity.

“I always try to emphasize that if every shopper in Cobb County bought only one item per week, we would flood our city's food pantries and be able to meet the emergency food needs of the hungry in our community. When many items are 25 cents or less, even kids can impact the world dramatically in this way.”

Donation bins have been placed in all of Cobb EMC’s break rooms. Mark Justice, Director of Education and Community Relations, and Ashley Blondell, Marketing Services Intern, recently delivered the food collected to MUST Ministries, a faith-based organization dedicated to providing services to persons in crisis while maintaining their dignity.

According to Blondell, “Summer is an especially critical time for MUST, for the majority of regular, bulk contributors (schools, churches, clubs, etc.) are either not in session, or don't realize the continued need for supplies beyond the holidays.”

In addition to serving over 67,000 hot meals each year and assisting over 91,000 people with emergency groceries and baked goods, MUST offers counseling, education, job placement, medical care and a clothes closet, to name a few. In addition MUST offers a summer-lunch program to provide a meal for children who depend on school lunches.

If you are interested in donating food items to MUST Ministries, visit their Web site at www.mustministries.org or call them at 770-427-9862. The organization can use meal-making foods such as spaghetti sauce and noodles, tuna helper and tuna fish, peanut butter and jelly, instant foods, or donated meals to the greatest advantage. Don’t forget to visit www.cutouthunger.org to find money-saving coupons and unadvertised bargains to find deals or save money as you lend a hand to MUST Ministries.
